Heliopolis recently celebrated the opening of Mezza, the restaurant that brings
a sensationally original and vibrant experience for guests and diners seeking
authentic Lebanese cuisine and atmosphere.

The opening was a special occasion for
all the diners, most notably Lebanon’s Consul to Egypt, Antoine Azzam. His
Excellency revealed his misses’ genuine Lebanese cuisine and ambience, but has
now found the best at the Radisson Blu Cairo. Mr Azzam’s comment, “This has
been a beautiful evening, with wonderful guests in a beautiful hotel,” was a
superb motivation for everyone on the night.
The enjoyment began on the outdoor
terrace, where guests were greeted by hotel staff and managers spearhead by
Emad Fouad Executive Assistant Manager and Nevine Nader Director of PR and
Communications. Oriental music and intimate lighting set the scene as the aroma
from grilled delights and freshly baked bread filled the air.
Tabbouleh, fattousch and tameya were
the delectable introduction to main courses featuring Tagen Bameya, Fattit
Frakh, mixed grills and mixed rice followed by favorite desserts such as
Shaabeyat … all of which drew delighted responses from the guests. As fresh
evening breezes cooled the terrace, the atmosphere heated up with the alluring
performance of one of Cairo’s legendary belly dancers, Shams.
Mezza is more than just a delight for
the palette … hues and shades of walnut harmonize with softfurnishings, chairs
and tables to create a feast for the eyes and soul too. Photographs of famous
Lebanese actors and actresses adorn the walls to complete a perfect picture of
this magical country famed for its mouthwatering hot and cold mezza, soups,
grills breads, pastries and desserts.
At Mezza, the mezza is a must … among
the cold mezza there is Hommous Bel Lahma with diced beef fillet, Bazengan
Moutabel with grilled purée of eggplant. Hot mezza comes with Kebbeh Sageya
with mixed meats and cracked wheat, Segek Malfof, a Lebanese bread roll stuffed
with meat, cheese and flavored by Arabic spices. Sogek Balady is lamb sausage,
peppers, mushroom and onions.
From the grills try lamb and beef
kofta, marinated grilled jumbo shrimps, lamb cutlets, Shich Tawouk and lamb
chops or the delicious Maajoka (grilled minced beef with mushroom, cheese and
nuts). From the oven … spiced seafood, lamb and veal Tagen dishes are among the
authentic Lebanese specialities.
